Yeah, I wanted a santa-hat. Would've looked great on my necro. Just like guys are upset when farming is nerfed so it's harder for them to get FoW armor even though it is no better than draks armor.

Anyway, if it WOULD last longer, you'd have the following:
24 hours instead of 12: If it's anything like me, you're still recovering from a hangover by noon Januari first...so people still complain.
|
Guess I'm not like you, as I was nursing my hangover AND playing at noon today, just like the dozens of people who ALSO were at Lions Arch and were upset because they missed the event.
Quote:
2 days: If you really do have a life, you're still not getting it because on New Years itself, you tend to visit relatives you don't see all year and visit friends. Ergo, people still complain.
|
So let's make it 1 hour then. Same difference, right? Size doesnt matter, right?
Quote:
So, how long would it have to last for people to be happy?
|
* The event should be 24 hours minimum, or repeat a couple of times every day for a week, and definitely not be on a day when most people wont be playing - e.g. not between 18-21 on thanksgiving, not late in the evening on new years eve. If it had to be just one day, then new years DAY would've been a good choice, because most will be home.
* A finale should not be set up so that people need to leave their avatars logged in over night. That's just bullshit, really bad design. Not just because it penalizes players on dial-up, but because you should need to _take part_ to get the reward, not just be AFK.
* Players shouldn't need to go to websites like this to find out wth is happening in the game. Again, that's the purest BS. They had touts which explained about the snowball arena, they should've had touts/heralds which announced the time & place for the finale too.
This finale was really badly planned. Actually it was a fark-up. That was extra sad as the earlier parts of the event had been so good.

Fanboism?
Because somebody does not agree with your POV you resort to cliche name calling?
And please don't correct my spelling. Spend time improving yours, including your grammar.
Just keep drinking the whine.

Just because you don't agree with his opinion doesn't mean "fixing" his post is going to make people agree with you. If you missed the event, too bad, not much you missed anyway besides a hat that no one will wear a month later. Unless you were one of the many people who thought they could cash in on the hats later not knowing they were customized.

Numa, there were some points that I agreed with you.... but you've been acting like an whining ass from the beginning and you're still acting like one now.
I agree that the whole thing could have been planned better but you threw a tantrum and called everyone who turned out at the event as "having no lives or being under 16"
And now you're calling people who disagreed with you "fanboys" Keep on crying man, I highly doubt that you have really have a life...despite your repeated claims.
Also this:

....is completely wrong. You CAN be AFK to get the reward. If you left your character in a district the whole day, you'd get at least a hat. You might not get the hat that you wanted...but that's life eh?

You open with tired old "want cheese with that whine" and complain about cliche namecalling? That's pretty rich.
Gnomesmasher: Yes I know one could. I said one SHOULDN'T. It's a bad design decision that people do have to log in, but don't have to take part. Either they should have to take part, or they shouldn't need to log in.

Numa is on Dial up . *wink wink*
He's not 'bitching' guys!
This is a way to get attention from A-Net!
I feel this thread is more of a suggestion.
I'm going to have to agree with Numa here... It should be very convienient for everyone. Everyone. Everyone.
Happy new years

i got hats on all of my characters. why? because with 5 kids i have nothing better to do on new years eve than be on guildwars. so me and my wife spent most of the day watching shitty movies and then being in lions arch at the right time. i was a bit dissapointed that i didnt get an EXTRA event like the east coast people did but hey. thats what i get for living on the west coast i guess...

I do think it would have been better to run the event longer than 12 hours, but I would also guess that someone had to be "in the office" the whole time just in case anything went wrong and therefor would not be able to spend time with family.
I find it hard to believe that so many people who play this game cannot seem to do a little research and investigation. I managed to find out in game not only the times but also the fact that the item you received depended on who you voted for by standing in the appropriate circle. I also learned that most of the community were cooperating to make the even numbered districts for Dwayna and Santa hats; the odd numbered ones for Grenth and antlers. Now this was on the NA servers....so maybe not everyone was doing this.....but still, I managed to find this all out in about 10 minutes. But y'know what, if I hadn't been able to get one it would not have been that big a deal. I am sorry that some people didnt get the correct information...and I did see many people in game giving out false info, I hate that and tried to correct it whenever I could, but most of it was available if you just took the time to look into it.

Well, I just came back home my New Year's Party(was gone over the weekend)... and from the looks of it, I missed out on the Wintersday event goodies.
Woe is me. But I guess nothing can be done about that.

I don't get what you're complaining about now. You were annoyed by the fact that you couldnt get a hat because you couldnt play on that day.
So fine...ANET makes it so that all you have to do is be AFK in LA to get a hat.... yet you're complaining about that too?
And did you think that maybe they can't give people a hat if they're not logged in? And maybe people DON'T want a hat popping into their inventories when they're not logged in.

Fanboism. Such creative argument. So easy. One word argument. Its like the IWAY of forum discussion.

I agree with the whole "it should of been better planned", but ehhh this is getting out of control. Really so u didn't get a hat BOO HOO get over it. You know I didn't get a chance to get the Halloween hat? I had Uni all that day, and was out that nite :O I got lucky this time, and actually found some time at 3pm to get a santa hat for my necro You can't win them all, you'll get some of the hats, and some of them you wont. There will always be OTHER events... and if you want a hat so I'll sell you my account :P
Your opinions are valued, but this whole bashing thing is just lame :/

Everyone should be entitled to a hat! Numa has a dam right to be pissed! Show A-Net their flaws and let them fix it.
So how can A-Net do this, you say?
Put the event on a day when people are most likely on! Not on a freaking holiday when people are drunk and don't know the difference between Droknars Forge and Drunken Forge.
Put the events on a different day A-Net so this kind of flaming won't happen in the forums.

i left my game on during the 10 hours of partying i had and when i got home i had 2 hats and a set of antlers. you havent missed much the antlers are a bit big to be seen as 'cool or devilish' and the hat is rubbish in my opinion as it chops all of your hair off.

In either case, if you missed the hat, by march or april, people will only wear it when they are even too bored to run for tips.
